Components of The Showcase

The Showcase of HBCU is a college and career preparation program that consists of
5 STUDENT COMPONENTS and  2 ADULT COMPONENTS.

Student Components

The student components are designed to provide students with a sound, accurate, and informative pre-college preparation experience. The objective is to introduce students to a vast array of career fields and allow them to network and interact with professionals.

Champions Program

The HBCU Champions Program is a school-based program designed to prepare students for the college fair.

Pre-College Conference

The Education First Pre-College Conference is a consortium of college preparatory classes.

College Fair

The College Fair allows students to meet college and university representatives from all across the nation.

Career Fair

The Career Fair allows students the opportunity to speak with local Kentuckiana professionals from various career fields.

Senior Seminar

The Senior Seminar is a one-on-one session that provides students the opportunity to speak with a higher education professional regarding their college and career goals and academic portfolio.

Adult Components

The adult components are designed to provide parents, local educators, professionals, and community leaders with networking opportunities and information regarding the current college/education landscape.

Achievement Gap Luncheon

The Achievement Gap Luncheon and Parent Engagement Program provides educational workshops for local educators, administrators, parents, and community leaders. (featuring Dr. Donna Ford & Dr. Pedro Noguera)

Urban Jazz Exchange

The Urban Jazz Exchange is a networking reception that allows college representatives to meet and interact with counselors, educators, parents, and youth organizations in an environment away from the students.
